The world is a playground (David Belle) » Tracers

Hi, I'm David Belle - actor, choreographer and founder of parkour.

Parkour - it's a real workout to overcome obstacles. The purpose of it - to be strong to be useful.

Therefore, exercising, one should always think, "What can I do with this useful?".

At present there are no parkour flip. Because the meaning of parkour - simplicity and efficiency, it is necessary to train movement, in which you will be sure, simple and effective.

When you begin to engage in parkour, you constantly train. The first 2-3 years, you never stopped. Day and night. Every time you see some new obstacle, you think, how would it be taken away, because you know that it will also be a workout for you.

Then, over time, when you have learned everything I wanted, you calm down and think, what's left. At this point, there is a "feeling" that I do not practice for three weeks or a month, or two months, and I somehow suddenly begin for a week to train day and night. All this is not true.

You can pick up and examine all of these techniques. After all, these movements are simple. Parkour - a mixture thereof. You need to constantly jump to train your legs. Or, for example, pressision (accuracy - the accuracy of the jump - Ed.) - They help to focus and precise landing. The concentration - this is very important. Or running - you have to run longer in order to improve their endurance.

Doing Parkour - is, for the most part, forgotten by society and invented ways to create your own. And, despite what people say. "Do not go there, ushibeshsya" - all his own head, you need to know what is dangerous and what is not. A small child, for example, tell him not to do something, and he does. But put it on the edge of the abyss - he is not stupid and will not jump. For example, when I'm standing on the roof of the building, do not think about the height, I think of the freedom of the sky. It is the same thing as standing on top of a mountain. Go where you have not been before - that's what makes Parkour interesting.

But there is a wrong way to practice parkour - to impress someone. This is not a sport where you jump from a great height, strikes, and you supposedly care. Of course not. It is important to just being in good shape, to protect and strengthen their health, respect your body, respect themselves and others, and not to make showing off because you have come up with some crazy stunt.

My father, grandfather and great-grandfather were firefighters. They are trained to effectively overcome obstacles in order to be useful. My father taught me this, and I have made this something more clear: parkour.

My advice to young traceurs would be: it is normal that in 15-16 years, you want to be somebody, but when you are doing Parkour with passion, if you are good, people will notice you. No need to specifically draw attention to themselves: "Look what I can." Not this way. We usually talk this way: "If you're good, we tell you." Do this in the first place for yourself.
